Tyfahra Milele - Academic Trailblazer and DEI Leader

Over the past 10 years, Tyfahra Milele has gained professional experience in various learning environments, including public schools and educational camps. Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Tyfahra Milele created Humanize Us All, LLC, in 2020.

Advocating for inclusive workplaces and learning environments, her efforts focus on conducting comprehensive "humanity audits” to foster DEI culture. The company offers executive leadership coaching, certified through CliftonStrengths®, aimed at humanizing workplace dynamics.

Previously, Ms. Milele led operations and IT strategies at Great Oakland Public Schools during a phase of exponential workforce growth, amplifying the institution's outreach and impact. Her tenure as director of education and head of school at Civicorps Corpsmember Academy was marked by initiatives like the Race, Power & Privilege Working Group and the introduction of career-based learning pathways.

As the executive director at Camp Phoenix, Tyfahra Milele orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, devising a fundraising strategy that catapulted the organization's annual income to new levels. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, she succeeded in securing grants resulting in significant revenue growth.

Dr. Milele studied English and comparative literature at Oberlin College. She later obtained her PhD in comparative literature with a designated emphasis in film studies from UC Berkeley.
